Community

We encourage an active and supporting lifestyle, and foster unique opportunities to bring residents together.

Inspired by religious men and women seeking to create an inviting, inclusive environment that provides care and compassion to its residents, Presentation Manor is truly a community of communities.

Whether you are a single person, a married couple, or a member of a religious order, you are free to enjoy the retirement lifestyle that best suits your personal needs. You can stroll along the walkways that surround the whole building while enjoying the beautifully landscaped grounds. You can take advantage of the well-maintained spa, beauty salon, and swimming pool; or go to the bar for a drink with friends and other residents before dinner.

The neighbourhood

The residence is located on a 4-acre site in Scarborough, Toronto, very close to Providence Healthcare and the Toronto Transit Commission Warden Subway Station. We’re also next door to a popular Tim Hortons. Other nearby services and entertainment options within walking distance or a short drive include:

  • Eglinton Square shopping mall, with over 80 retail stores, a public library, a pharmacy and more
  • Eglinton Town Centre where you can find many big-box retail chain stores and movie theatres
  • A ServiceOntario centre
  • Albert Campbell public library
  • Walking paths
  • Nearby parks; Clarlea Park, St. Clair Ravine and Moreau Trail Park
  • Access to public transit with a bus stop immediately outside our doors
  • Many small restaurants

Spirituality

The spiritual welfare of our residents is a primary focus at Presentation Manor. A Catholic chapel is central to community life and Mass is celebrated daily, in combination with other liturgical services.

People of all faiths and beliefs are welcomed at Presentation Manor. As a Catholic organization, Presentation Manor regularly provides Catholic services and sacraments. Our Spiritual services programming also includes:

  • Daily Mass
  • Inter-denominational worship
  • Memorial services
  • Other activities designed to promote the personal well-being and the quality of life of our residents and staff.

Your own parish priest/pastor/spiritual advisor or rabbi is always welcome to visit Presentation Manor. Whenever possible, residents are encouraged to continue to participate in their existing community parish or place of worship, providing arrangements can be made by the residents and/or their families.

Resident Activities

Presentation Manor is unique in that the design, format, and structure of the facility and its activities give residents an opportunity, through shared meals, activities, programs, and events, to meet and interact with their neighbours – helping to create a true sense of community.

This commitment to developing a thriving community is further enhanced by encouraging an active lifestyle. A recreation coordinator will be on staff daily, to promote social interaction and organize activities for residents on a completely voluntary basis. Options include but are not limited to:

  • Regular Masses/services
  • Functions and events
  • Excursions
  • Cards
  • Movies
  • Exercise classes
  • Entertainment

Our Commitment to the Community

Presentation Manor is an active supporter of the “Becoming Neighbours” program, whose offices are located on the premises. The volunteer-based program provides companionship by matching newcomers to Canada with established Canadians, who provide a presence and act as friends, guides and mentors in Canadian society during their initial adjustment in Toronto.

If offering support to off-site groups is appealing, other close-by volunteering opportunities allow residents to engage with people in need at local schools and community service agencies.
